Tricks I've Learned Along the Way
There are a lot of spots to shoot in Zion, however the specific spot we wanted to take photos at was currently closed due to construction. We found this other location and realized that it would be in direct sunlight, which can be a love-hate relationship for some photographers because it can be hard to edit and it can cause harsh shadows. After lots of experience with direct sunlight, I've picked up some tips along the way to share with you all. In this blog, I will dive into my top tips and tricks on how to shoot in sunlight to get the best results possible!
How to Shoot in Sunlight With the Right Camera Settings
Some tips I've found that help when figuring out how to shoot in sunlight is learning to change my settings to help with my editing after the fact. If you want to make the editing process as easy as possible, camera settings are your new bff! My settings are usually around 100 ISO, 2.5-3.5 f, and 2,000 or higher for shutter speed. Learning how to play around with your camera settings may seem scary at first, but once you have it all down, it is so rewarding and all of your galleries will reflect that!
Saturation & Shadows
Another trick I have learned that helps make it look less warm is turning down the orange sliders and saturation. I also bring up the shadows and blacks to make it less dark. Getting some experience with how to shoot in sunlight is so important. With the right shadows and colors, they turn out to be the most stunning photos ever! Use these tips I've given you today and you'll thank me later!
